Love metal and heartagrams

I was discussing this with a couple other members of the community earlier and I just want others opinions on the band HIM and this whole Love Metal shit.

I hate it. I know it's off-topic of the emo subject, but I guess if you wanted to destroy the whole concept of metal and emo it up, you would create Love Metal...eh??

Everytime a person wears a heartahram t-shirt, a faerie's wings get snapped.

Everytime a person wears a heartogram t-shirt, a third world child dies of starvation.

Love CAN work in metal, but only in exceptionally rare circumstances, and genrally in the form of tragic love and death (see My Dying Bride, Anathema and pretty much every other doom band). However HIM are about as metal as wet newspaper so are disqualified, and that Love Metal "joke" is about as funny as a baby being run over by a steamroller....actaully that could be pretty damn amusing.

Ironically emo is rarely about love either, it's about pining for unatrractive members of the opposite gender (and I use the term loosly), or crying, or cutting your writs, or dressing worse than a faggot, or what the fuck ever.

Pop musicans don't write about love, they write about stupid lust towards other vaccuous morons. Rappers don't write about love, they write about eating out a chick with a big ass. None of these clueless fucks have any idea about what they're talking about and should really shut the hell up, especially emos.

And the REALLY fucked thing about HIM is that they've made a whole fucking career out of ripping off an aweeomse Finnish goth metal band named Sentenced, perhaps you've heard of them. Not only do they suck, but they're a watered down version of a great band. Sentenced R.I.P.

OK, rant over, hope that answered your question.

yeah, fuck love. that fucking love shit is retarded.

HIM isn't a particularily great band. They do have a few okay songs. And I think that love in music is a great thing. Even in Metal. Not saying that HIM is Metal, but they are closer than any pop band.

I've never liked HIM, all of their songs that I've heard sucked. Although I agree with Los in that love in music can be a great thing.

What happened to that ritejustone guy?

I don't understand how anyone could take them seriously as their 'favorite band', with lyrics that are all exactly the goddamn same.

I've never been exposed to HIM's actual music because I've avoided it like the fucking plague. My brother doesn't seem to realise that the heartogram poster on his wall actually has to do with a band -- he got it because he thought it was hilariously ironic -- and I haven't had the heart to inform him what it really is.

All true emotion in music is good. The thing is, it's really hard to find, especially love. I was complaining about 'love' songs to my mother the other day, in fact, for that very reason -- it's all either lust pretending to be love or completely fucking fake. And if I'm gonna listen to a song about lust, I want it to be about *lust*, not some guy pretending a stiffy = love.

*clicks on Accept's Head Over Heels*

Also Head Over Heels (Hammerfall cover) is good, I haven't had the chance to listen to the original, but another great song is Metal Hearth (Both Dimmu Borgir and Accept), and Seawinds (Only heard Therion's Version)

I was listening to some of HIM's music once over a friends house and just was not getting into it one bit. I was in a record store the other day and saw the title of one of their cds and it said Love Metal on it and nearly had a shit fit and said,"WTF is this crap???"

It. Must. Die.

Save the love ballads to the 80s metal Aqua Net days.

I've never really listened to the band. Generally the same crowd who are fanatic about AFI also listen to HIM, so I believe that tells you something.
If emo and metal intersect at any point, (if you can even call them metal) this is it.

I do not understand this HIM band either. I cannot stand that band. I fucking hate them. Thing is, several of my friends claim to like them, but then these are people that also claim to like black metal. I should burn them all at the stake. There's nothing "cool" or whatever about HIM. I really fucking hate that band. That's all I can say. I hate hearing that fucker's voice, I hate seeing his pictures on shirts, I just plain out hate anything and everything about that band.

like knifesmile i have avioded listening to him, and i dont plan to listen to them any time soon, it just shits me to tears when people might come up to you and say "hey you like metal right", so i turn to them "yeah". then the dumb ars say "cool i listen to metal too such as Him, Slipknot and Korn"
fucking hell the amount of times this happens is enough to make ne one go insane.
